Japanese Kinkazan Jacquard Pile | Japanese Nume Chrome Shrink Leather
This sacoche is made from a Japanese Kinkazan jacquard pile fabric, a richly textured textile traditionally used for luxurious upholstery and interiors. Kinkazan has been used for seating in the Japanese National Diet, and similar fabrics have also been made for furnishings associated with the Imperial Household.
I was immediately drawn to this particular pattern. It feels exotic at first, but somehow familiar—almost like a textile from the 1920s. The geometric pattern and raised pile give it a unique depth and character that you don't often find in modern fabrics.
We paired the Kinkazan with Japanese nume chrome shrink leather to create a contrast between the soft, textured fabric and the natural grain of the leather. Black leather edging, an adjustable leather strap, antique-finished hardware, and a heavy-duty zipper keep the design simple and functional.
A luxurious Japanese textile, reworked into a practical everyday sacoche.
