USARP Bag
USARP Bag
There are obscure vintage references and there are common ones. The USARP was the US Antarctic Research Program and was a civilian and military joint research program started in 1959. These bags were apparently issued to the civilian department. I believe these bags were made by The Diamond Brand which made the Yucca Pack for the Boy Scouts of America in the 1930s. I adore the color palette so we went with Alberton 18 oz basic duck fabric in a great dusty orange color. Which looks very much like the original bag. Heavyweight cotton webbing was used for the handles, and side pull. Japanese leather reinforcements, name plate, and brass D-rings by Kamishiraishi Brass in Tokyo. These are extra special sand-cast brass D-rings with a nice weight to them and gives the bag an extra special detail that’ll age nicely. Completely made in Japan. UNBRANDED
